Classes for children and teens with aspergers/high functioning autism.
Looking for more ways to help your child with autism develop understanding and social skills that improve function in society? Using drama in this capacity is an emerging experimental field. Drama helps develop and practice understanding, communication, flexibility, and social interaction through confidence building dramatic experiences, “typical” peer interaction, and community support. “It is critical to recognize that in order to achieve the best possible
outcome in real-life social situations, people with autism need to first practice social skills in controlled environments. Acting classes provide a ready-made setting for this type of practice.” (Davies & McAfee, 2004).
This approach is globally gaining credibility as universities and professionals experiment empowering those with autism using drama.
